There is a consultation taking place at County Council level regarding the Oxfordshire Waste Recycling centres. Full details are below. The Stanford tip is under review. Our District Councillors Elaine Ware and Simon Howell will be making representations to try to keep the Stanford tip open for residents in the Western Vale. If it is closed there is a concern about the impact to residents who would face a 40+ mile round trip to the nearest alternative site. We would ask you all to take part in the consultation process to make views clear for your Parish, and please could you copy Elaine and Simon on any responses so that they can include them in their representations. Their email addresses are [email protected] and [email protected]
We also hope there will be a Public Meeting in September to make residents aware and voice our concerns – details will be shared as soon as they are available. The announcement of the consultation is below: Household waste recycling centre strategy for Oxfordshire As part of planned savings Oxfordshire County Council has reduced the overall household waste recycling centre (HWRC) budget by £350,000 from 2017/18. To meet this reduction our proposal is to reduce the number of HWRCs from seven to three, or to four and to change the opening hours of the remaining sites. Once agreed, these changes will be made over several years with plenty of notice given to local residents. There will be a consultation on these proposals running from 10 August (12 noon) to 5 October 2015. This consultation is open to all Oxfordshire householders to comment on. Understanding public views, opinions and preferences is key to our decision making process. The consultation documents will be available online from 10 August (12 noon) atwww.oxfordshire.gov.uk/waste and we encourage people to complete the online response questionnaire. If residents need support to take part in this consultation we recommend they contact the county council on 01865 816043 or [email protected]. Hard copies of the consultation materials for people to review are available at all libraries. U3A are holding two events during October.
