The Fairer Sex - Women and the Great Western Railway is the topic of the September talk given by Dr Rosa Matheson, a local author and well-known railway historian in Faringdon Corn Exchange at 2.30pm. The Great Western Railway struggled with this question for many years - as it believed that “the first aim of women’s existence is marriage” but women were the cheapest form of labour! Refreshments available after the talk. All members are welcome to attend but visitors are required to pay £1.50. Further information is available from the chairman on 01367 241 241 or on the web site on faringgdondistrictu3a.wordpress.com.
Advance notice of the Autumn U3A Open Morning on Tuesday, 3rd October.
